A highly accurate quartz watch featuring a dial reminiscent of windswept snow
特色
In Japan, we see many changes in the expressions of nature as the seasons pass, and Grand Seiko seeks to capture the essence of these changes through evocative dials it makes in-house. The snow-white dial of SBGX355 is meant to suggest the serendipitous beauty of nature in the area near the Shinshu Watch Studio where it is made. Through master craftsmanship, it presents a detailed pattern not unlike the one traced across the snow by the wind, one that might be seen on the Hotaka peaks in winter. The second hand in vivid blued steel creates a beautiful contrast as it rounds the pure white dial. The 37mm case and the bracelet are crafted from high-intensity titanium, which is even more resistant to abrasions than regular titanium and wears ethereally light on the wrist.

A dial depicting wind-blown snow
One of the beautiful sights a person might witness on a harsh mountainside in winter is that of patterns etched into the windswept snow, created as strong gales shape the snow that has fallen on the hard surfaces. The peaks of the Hotaka mountains, which can be seen from the Shinshu Watch Studio, where Grand Seiko’s spring drive and quartz watches are made, are covered in snow for several months each year. The beautiful patterns of windswept snow seen in this region in wintertime have been re-created on this dial pattern. Formed through master craftsmanship, the dial is achieved not by a simple white coating, but rather by a special kind of processing that uses silver plating to create its refined appearance. The dial has an appearance of pure white without the use of any white materials or pigments.
