Elegant manual winding
movements open new design possibilities
In July 2019, these two Grand Seiko watches were released to commemorate the 20th anniversary of Spring Drive. They share the same case design and, with their slim profiles and manual winding movements, show the way forward to a new future for Grand Seiko’s Elegance collection.
The slimness of the case is not just the result of the movement design. The Grand Seiko logo at the 12 o’clock position is engraved rather than raised so as to contribute to the overall slimness of the case. The case is Platinum 950, the hour and minute hands and markers are in 14k white gold. Calibre 9R02. Accuracy of ±15 seconds per month. Manual winding. Power reserve of 84 hours. Case diameter of 38.5mm and depth of 9.8mm.
With a design and texture that reflects the wind-swept surface of the snow on the mountains of the Shinshu region, this dial has become known among Grand Seiko connoisseurs as the “Snowflake.” Calibre 9R31 with the Dual Spring Barrel. Power reserve of 72 hours. Accuracy of ±15 seconds per month. Manual winding. 18k yellow gold case with a diameter of 38.5mm and depth of 10.2mm.
