Features
Nagano Prefecture, where Spring Drive watches are manufactured, is home to a number of mountains rising over 3,000 meters. The countless rivers that flow from these mountains have, over many years, created a lush, natural environment. The Atera River carves out a deep ravine called the Atera Valley, known for its breathtaking beauty. Using the clear, emerald-green waters of the Atera River as a motif, the dial conjures the image of a stream so clear that one can see the bottom, as well as the rich, natural harmony of summertime. At the heart of this watch is the Spring Drive 5 Days Caliber 9RA2. This movement provides up to 120 hours (5 days) of power when fully wound, as well as an average accuracy of ±10 seconds per month, an astounding achievement for a watch powered by a mainspring.

A dial representing the flow of time through the valley
The Atera Valley is one of the foremost places of scenic beauty in Nagano Prefecture. As the vibrant natural environment changes in expression throughout the four seasons, the clear waters form a singular beauty referred to as “Atera blue,” and enchant the hearts of all who visit them. Through a combination of highly transparent blue-green color gradations, this watch expresses the eternal flow of time evident in the formation of the valley. The case and bracelet are high-intensity titanium, a metal 30 percent lighter than steel and highly resistant to rust, corrosion and scratches.
Spring Drive 5 Days, Caliber 9RA2
This watch is powered by Grand Seiko’s Spring Drive Caliber 9RA2, a movement that maintains a level of performance comparable to that of the innovative Caliber 9RA5, which debuted in 2020. With Caliber 9RA2, the power reserve indicator is on the back to further slim down the watch’s profile. The case back shows the movement, which has a subtle feeling of the “Shinshu Frost,” a conceptualization of the frost that can be seen throughout the Shinshu region during periods of intense cold. This representation resonates with the power reserve indicator hand, which is tempered to a beautiful shade of blue, to communicate a peaceful expression.
