Heritage collection with dials
reflecting the Japanese aesthetic of 24 sekki
Features
A classic Grand Seiko design with a dial that captures a treasured moment in the Japanese seasonal calendar.
This is a modern re-interpretation of the celebrated 62GS from 1967. The 62GS was not only Grand Seiko’s first watch with an automatic movement, but it was also, along with the 44GS released the same year, the watch that first expressed the design grammar, the Grand Seiko Style, that still shapes
all Grand Seiko designs today. Like its predecessor, this modern re-interpretation has the characteristic sharp edges and perfect distortion-free surfaces that only Zaratsu polishing can create and a wide dial opening which was achieved thanks to a bezel-free construction.
The deep green dial evokes the sights and sounds of Rikka, the seventh of Japan’s twenty-four sekki or seasons. Spring has passed and the increasing warmth of the sun's rays announces that summer has begun. Japan’s plants take on a deeper green hue and, as they grow, sway elegantly in
the ‘Kumpu’ wind.
The watch is powered by the hi-beat automatic caliber 9S85 and is hand assembled by the skilled craftsmen and women of the Grand Seiko Studio Shizukuishi.

Kunpu, the refreshing breeze
As spring passes to summer, the land turns lush and green. A refreshing summer zephyr blows over waving fields and grass. This refreshing zephyr in Japanese is kunpu. This model’s rich, green dial seizes a summer moment to enjoy forever.
It is during this season that rice is sowed (Bōshu) and when the night is shortest (Geshi). As the intensity of heat raises (Shōsho), summer ends with the hottest day of the year (Taisho).
Caliber 9S85 uses sophisticated modern technology applying innovations to the precision controlling mainspring, the hairspring, and the escapement. Together the movement showcases the pure power and dynamism of the Mechanical Hi-Beat 36,000.
Unveiling its deep sensibilities and a reverence for the Japanese passage of time, Grand Seiko has reimagined the iconic 62GS design with four new timepieces for its Heritage Collection.
